FAMILY & PARENTING SUPPORT
Imagine what it would be like to feel refreshed rather than exhausted each day. Whether you are a single parent, married couple, step-parent or co-parent, you deserve a judgment-free zone to share your feelings about any challenges you are experiencing in parenting. There is no “one way” to parent, and no “quick fix” to challenges at home but you can learn skills to support your child or adolescent and keep building a strong, connected family.
Family is one of the most important things in a child or teen’s life. In family therapy sessions, relationships can be repaired and improved. As a family, you can work together to create routines, improve communication and strengthen bonds.
Animal Assisted Interventions With Franklin
Franklin is a dog with a job! A 10-month-old Labradoodle and therapy dog in training, he will happily greet you as you enter my office and provide comfort during your session. He brings a sense of calm and joy to the office, and sometimes offers comedic relief. Therapy with animals has been shown to help clients feel more comfortable in session, help create a sense of non-judgement and more. Franklin loves his job, and gets very excited when it’s time for “the office.” He loves to do tricks for treats from clients, and knows “sit,” “stay,” “up,” “come,” “shake,” “bump (fist bump)” and “lay.” He loves to fetch, but is still working to learn “drop it.”
If you choose, Franklin can directly work with you or your child as they brush him or teach him a new trick. Ask me more about this during our consultation if you’re interested!

I made the choice to be an out-of-network provider for a variety of, mainly ethical, reasons. I do not believe that you need to be diagnosed with a mental health disorder to participate in therapy, and I do not believe in diagnosing clients (especially young children) with unnecessary labels just so that they can receive support and guidance. These diagnoses stay in a medical record permanently, and can be used against clients if they were to apply for specific insurance policies (such as short term disability) or in the case of applying for certain career positions. Also, working with managed care requires me to sacrifice your right to privacy and confidentiality through utilization reviews that require me to share your personal information. I value your confidentiality and privacy and do not want to sacrifice your right.
What does that mean? I do not accept insurance directly at my office, however, I am happy to provide you with the support to get reimbursed for my services, if you are eligible. If you have Out of Network benefits, I can provide you a super bill for you to submit to your insurance. All fees are due from you at time of services with me. If you are eligible for out of network benefits, you will submit documentation and insurance company will reimburse you directly. *You or your child must have a diagnosis for your insurance company to reimburse.
How do you know if you have Out of Network benefits? First, check the Summary of Benefits on your policy. Then, call your insurance company directly, and ask them the following question: Do I have out of network benefits?
If no: Talk with your HR representative about how you can sign up for a plan with out of network benefits during your next open enrollment period
If yes, ask the following questions:
What is my out of pocket responsibility?
What is my out of network deductible for outpatient mental health?
How much of my deductible has been met this year?
What is my reimbursement rate?
Do I need a referral from an in-network provider to see someone out of network?
Do I need any other prior authorization to receive these benefits?
How do I submit claim forms for reimbursement?
Is there a deadline for my reimbursement?
Is there anything else I need to do?
Affording Services Without Insurance
I understand that having mental health care is important and because of that, I offer a few slots in my schedule that are sliding scale. This means that based on need, I am able to offer you a lower cost service. Unfortunately, sliding scale appointments are not available for after school or evening hours.
